Not yet. Claude for Financial Advisors, the suite Anthropic launched on September 14, 2026, runs on Claude Enterprise plans, which puts it out of reach for the typical solo practice today. But here's what I didn't expect when I read through the launch coverage. The most useful parts of what Anthropic just built are things you can already do on the $20 a month Claude plan you may be using right now. This article covers what the product actually is, why the Enterprise requirement exists, and what a solo advisor can build this week without it.
What Is Claude for Financial Advisors?
Claude for Financial Advisors is a plugin that bundles connectors and workflow skills for advisory firms. The connectors let Claude read the systems a firm already runs on, including Charles Schwab, BlackRock, Vanguard, Addepar, Envestnet, Orion, and Wealthbox. The skills put that information to work on specific jobs like pre-meeting prep, post-meeting notes and follow-up, portfolio rebalance review, estate and tax briefings, prospect intake, and compliance checks.
The pitch is time. Anthropic points to Kitces research showing a typical advisory practice spends only about a sixth of its time in client meetings, with the rest going to the work around those meetings. Claude drafts that surrounding work, and the advisor reviews and approves everything before it goes anywhere.
Worth noting what it won't do. Anthropic's financial services lead was direct about the line the product draws. Claude won't give investment advice, and the judgment stays with you. I think that framing is exactly right, and it matches what I've been teaching advisors about AI from the start. The tool handles the preparation and the paperwork so you can spend your attention on the advice itself.
Why Can't Solo Advisors Get It Yet?
The plugin itself is free, but it only installs on Claude Enterprise plans with Cowork enabled. Enterprise is sold to organizations, with admin setup, audit logs for recordkeeping, and contracts that assume a team. Anthropic's head of asset and wealth management gave reporters a ballpark of $70 to $120 per user per month depending on usage, and firms that request a license before the end of September 2026 receive a one-time usage credit.
For a ten-advisor RIA custodying at Schwab, that math probably works out fine. For a solo advisor, the Enterprise requirement is the wall, because you can't pick up a single seat the way you subscribe to Claude Pro.
If that stings a little, I get it. The advisors who've been earliest and scrappiest with AI are solo and small-firm advisors, and the first official advisor product from Anthropic launched above their heads. The good news is the gap between what Enterprise firms just got and what you can build yourself is smaller than the headlines suggest.
Does the Launch Matter Even If You Can't Install It?
I believe this is the most important advisor technology story of the year, and I'd say that even if the product never reaches individual plans.
Here's why this matters. When one of the major AI companies builds a named product for financial advisors, with custodian connectors and compliance features, the question of whether AI belongs in an advisory practice is settled. Your broker-dealer, your custodian, and your biggest competitors are all working from that assumption now. The firms that were waiting for permission just got it.
The launch also tells you where the big firms will pull ahead first. Meeting prep, documentation, and portfolio review are operational work, and Enterprise tools will speed them up across thousands of advisors at once. Those tools won't make any of those advisors sound different from each other, though. Your voice, your niche, and your visibility when a prospect asks an AI who to work with are still yours to build, and no firm-level rollout hands those to anyone. I wrote about that side of the shift in how advisors can show up when prospects ask AI for recommendations.

What Can a Solo Advisor Build With Claude Today?
Nearly all of the launch-day skills have a solo version you can build on a regular Claude Pro subscription for $20 a month, using Projects and your own documents in place of Enterprise connectors.
Start with a project that holds your context. A Claude Project loaded with your voice guide, your compliance language rules, your niche description, and your service model gives every conversation the background an Enterprise connector would otherwise supply. My step-by-step Claude setup guide walks through exactly this, and it takes about an afternoon.
From there, the launch-day skill list reads like a checklist you can work through yourself. Pre-meeting prep becomes a prompt that takes your own notes on a client relationship and returns an agenda and the questions likely to come up. Post-meeting follow-up becomes a prompt that turns your quick recap into a client-ready email in your voice. The compliance pre-check becomes a review pass against your firm's language rules before anything publishes. If you'd rather start from ready-made versions, my guide to Claude Skills for advisors explains how packaged workflows like these run inside your own Claude account.
One rule before you build any of this. Client names, account numbers, and personal details stay out of your setup, since a solo subscription doesn't carry the contractual protections an Enterprise agreement does. Placeholders work fine for every workflow above, and my article on PII, NPI, and AI tools covers where that line sits.
In my experience, the setup is the step advisors put off longest. Once it's done, the rest of this takes minutes.

Three things, I think. Watch whether Anthropic brings any version of this to individual plans, because AI products have generally launched enterprise first and reached everyone else later. Watch which custodians and planning tools add connectors next, since your own stack showing up on that list changes the math for your practice. And watch what your clients start expecting, because a prospect who reads that advisors now have AI handling their meeting prep will assume yours does too.
I'll flag movement on all three in my weekly AI cheat sheet. It's also part of why I'm building Watt, the Amplify for Advisors Agent, a marketing agent that connects to the Claude or ChatGPT plan you already have. It does a different job than Anthropic's product, and it comes from the same belief that solo advisors shouldn't have to wait for the good tools.
The Bottom Line for Solo Advisors
Claude for Financial Advisors is built and priced for firms, and you can't install it on a solo practice today. The launch still works in your favor. It settles the question of whether AI belongs in an advisory practice, and it hands you a map of the workflows worth automating. Almost every item on that map has a version you can build this week with the Claude plan you already have and a few hours of setup.
The big firms just got faster at operations. Sounding like yourself was never something they could buy.
